Biography:
Student at Brown U and Asian American Activist, specifically Burmese American interested in diaspora narratives and critical refugee studies . From her page: My interests include the intersection between postcolonial and Asian American studies. Specifically, I am interested in Southeast Asian and Southeast Asian American literatures, especially those authored by members of the Burmese diaspora. I also focus on issues of religious - particularly Buddhist - nationalism in Southeast Asia and its affect on societies under authoritarian governments. My goal is to explore how such sentiments are maintained by diasporic communities. Furthermore, I wish to track how such societal norms/traditions, and associated forms of resistance, trauma, and prejudices are passed down through generations, and also how they become altered.
