Biography: 
John Reimann is a retired carpenter. He was the recording secretary of Carpenters Local 713 and was active in the labor movement for many years, always as a union supporter but also in opposition to the employer-friendly policies of his union leadership. He was expelled for life from the carpenters union as a result of his activities and, specifically, as a result of his leading role in the San Francisco Bay Area carpenters wildcat strike of 1999. John has also been active in the socialist movement for over 35 years. Included in his activity has been visiting the workers’ movement in Pakistan, Venezuela, Ireland, Britain, and Egypt (during the Arab Spring). He was an active participant in Occupy Oakland. He is the administrator and main writer for the blog site Oaklandsocialist.com.
