Peter Schutz is an active member of the Coalition for Peace Action (CFPA) in Princeton. He is involved in local politics and regular lobbying of his senators and congressman.
He has been a member of many organizations working for peace and justice in the US and the world, such as: SANE, Union of Concerned Scientists, Common Cause, and Physicians for Social Responsibility. He is presently helping to support two families in El Salvador; one through Compassion International.
He has given talks, sermons, and led discussions on peacemaking, US foreign policy and various social issues in the Presbyterian Church and the United Church of Christ (UCC).
